A national Economist/YouGov poll found that a majority of registered voters support impeaching Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for starting a war with Iran without authorization from Congress. Only 34% oppose.

Massie filed a privileged impeachment resolution on September 15.
Rep. Thomas Massie filed eight articles against Secretary Hegseth. The House recessed before the anticipated vote. Under Rule IX, Speaker Johnson must set a time for the privileged resolution within two legislative days of Massie’s notice. The House is scheduled to return November 9, 2026, and a procedural vote on the resolution will follow.
